Good News Potterheads! Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint will reunite once again in January for “Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts”, which is a retrospective special to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise’s first film. This special will air on HBO Max on New Year's Day!
Warner Bros recently announced that they had planned a retrospective special in which the stars of “all 8 Harry Potter films” reunite on-screen to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise’s first film, “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” The retrospective will feature in-depth interviews, insight into the journey, cast conversations, and more.
The leading Harry Potter trio, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, will be joined by other cast members of the franchise as they share their experiences throughout the journey that started exactly 20 years ago. The retrospective special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will air on HBO Max on New Year’s Day, 1 January 2022.
This retrospective special will also air on WarnerMedia’s TBS and Cartoon Network in the spring of 2022. They have planned to air it on both networks before the theatrical release of “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.”
In the press release by WarnerMedia, Tom Ascheim, President, Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults, and Classics, said;
“It has been an incredible journey since the debut of the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone film, and witnessing how it has evolved into this remarkable interconnected universe has been magical, to say the least. This retrospective is a tribute to everyone whose lives were touched by this cultural phenomenon—from the talented cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into this extraordinary film franchise to the passionate fans who continue to keep the Wizarding World spirit alive 20 years later.”
Executive producer Casey Patterson said;
“There’s magic in the air here with this incredible cast, as they all return home to the original sets of Hogwarts, where they began 20 years ago. The excitement is palpable as they prepare to take their fans on a very special and personal journey through the making of these incredible films”.
Another great thing for Potterheads is that they can dive into the celebrations immediately by visiting ‘WizardingWorld.com’ and checking out 20th-anniversary hub content.
The first look at the retrospective special will debut in the middle of the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses premiere, which is scheduled for 28 November 2021. It will be premiered on TBS and Cartoon Network at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Nevertheless, there is no news about J.K Rowling being a part of this reunion special. There has been no comment about it from both J.K. Rowling’s side and WarnerMedia. Her exclusion from this reunion might be because of the recent controversy Rowling got wrapped into.
