The rumor about the appearance of Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was circulated like a wildfire after Vin Diesel made comments on Social Media.
However, James Gunn dealt with the situation and responded to it by rejecting the false statement.
Guardians of the Galaxy is set to hit the cinemas with its 3rd sequel in 2023 after a record-breaking success with the previous 2 volumes released in 2014 and 2017. The talking, walking tree species Groot was initially seen in the first movie. Due to his friendship with Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon and his amusing three-word vocabulary, “I am Groot” was voiced by Diesel and immediately won over viewers. After the rise of this character as Groot, it appeared in the sequel of Guardian of the Galaxy as Baby Groot, which eventually led him to be cast in different MCU projects, out of which “I am Groot” available on Disney Plus is now the most recent one.
Before launching, the movie had already gathered the limelight of news and headlines after Vin Diesel broke the word about the character of Groot and its version, which is yet to be disclosed in the upcoming volume.
Some fans questioned whether a new character version would emerge in the movie after Diesel suggested “Alpha Groot” at San Diego Comic-Con.
To break the rumor and clarify things, the director of GOTG 3, James Gunn, posted on his Twitter handle, where he told his fans that the news claimed by Vin diesel on Social Media is nothing but a false statement as no Alpha Groot will appear in the next volume.
He exactly mentioned his thoughts after a fan asked him a question on Twitter related to Vin Diesel’s comment; he replied:
Vin was musing out loud – he hadn’t read Vol 3. So what you saw at Comicon was Groot in Vol 3, and he’s not “Alpha Groot.”
James Gunn clarified the misleading statement since he is more concerned about fans’ sentiments and excitements that relate a specified character with a movie, so they don’t get disheartened after watching it.
Not only in the short series of “I am Groot, but” the character has also made an appearance in the Guardians of the Thor: Love and Thunder, where he was seen as a teenager, and the evidence show that he will still be that way when the holiday special comes out later this year. Since the initial Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 footage was only revealed at Comic-Con, it was simple for rumors to spread about what was shown. In the end, Diesel’s remarks didn’t imply anything; rather, it appears that the actor was only exaggerating the significance of his character’s appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
James Gunn is all set to wrap up his trilogy by making the 3rd volume a masterpiece hitting theatres next year. By marking an end to the sequel with an emotional touch, we hope to see the characters defined well in their positions as they have always been in the previous ones. Groot has already won the viewers’ hearts and needs no recognition or changes, and we hope the director must have planned something unique for him in the next play.
