Netflix making its return to Licensing as it is announced by Co-CEO, Ted Sarandos!
According to Ted Sarandos Netflix might not be producing more movies than previously, the prime reason is that they are easy to license them now.
However, streaming platforms lost masses at national media companies, there was a big transformation, come to Netflix, which, in its peak time used to compress studio cash boxes till got nervous, retreated, and previously started aggressively redesigning the content for free, which lead the Netflix’ big shove on original content.
Saraandos, Co-CEO of the Colossus streaming platform, stated at the UBS media talk in NYC, “We ramped up at that kind of aggressive pace because we had no access to license films. What has happened is that the availability to license has opened up a lot more.”
He quoted deals with Sony and Universal. That is “the more natural state of the business,” he stated. Studios are “always created” to license. “The unnatural state was forced integration.”
He also quoted that advantages proceed via the studios individually to builders and series from Suits to Cobra Kai, from Breaking Bad and Schitt’s Creek to Shameless and The Walking Dead. “The payback for them is enormous,” he stated.
“They are trying to find profitability, they are trying to navigate their linear businesses, their legacy businesses…We only had to navigate the DVD business and streaming.” He pondered over what it could feel like to put efforts in money making in theatrical and trying to captivate promotion to the Netflix platform while they are briefing its continuous connections.
Additionally, he announced Netflix original films, adding Bradly Cooper’s Maestro, Leave The World Behind featuring Julia Roberts, and Adam Sandler’s animated Lego.
Animated traits are one aspect where Netflix will continue to increase, as the top 8 most streamed films ever have been animated highlights, Sarandos said to investors.
Whereas, unscripted native language content is also another aspect to focus on. “We’re just starting on that.”
Sarandos stated that the company is “just thrilled that the strike is behind us.” The streamer’s business doesn’t get much affected due to a deep savage and descriptions from Covid when “We were able to shuffle things around a little bit and add a lot of international programming.”
