Warner Bros. Discovery, Lionsgate, and Gray Television are planning to release two ‘free’ networks, in partnership with Free TV Networks on 1 Jan. 2024.
In a seminal collaboration, entertainment titans Warner Bros. Discovery, Lionsgate, and Gray Television have teamed up with Jonathan Katz’s company, Free TV Networks, to initiate two new TV networks. These two networks are going to be free, and offer OTA, and if the flow gets good in the coming months, OTT service as well.
These highly anticipated channels are ready to set sail from 1st January 2024, which are going to be over-the-air at first. Named The365 and Outlaw, these channels will be showing unique content, targeting a specified audience.
The365 will be for 24/7 feeds of African-American programming, offering a curated array of content. Gray Television-owned media stations will be the ones showing this channel, contributing to the existing appreciation and representations of African Americans in the mainstream media.
The Outlaw network on the other hand will be for fans of the Western genre, showcasing immersive experiences with everything from the Old West. This network aims to grasp the fun of adventure, exploration, and history of Old Hollywood and the West, preserving it for the targeted male audience.
As something fresh, these channels are planned to come out to the world starting January 1st, New Year’s Day.
Since Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed its plans to broaden the streaming trend in the industry, they have been working with major companies to invest in free streaming services and OTA TV channels. The founder of Katz Broadcasting, Jonathan Katz (famous for Court TV and Bounce TV) has been emphasizing the importance of ‘free’ service prototypes, indicating its influence on the ad market, which is thriving due to digital broadcast networks.
In the coming months, if the networks are going strong, there are plans to let the networks be available for streaming online, however, there is no official information as to which streaming services will be carrying these channels in the future.
While Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly planning to launch its free streaming platform, the myriad of streaming platforms is concerning for cord-cutters, who are always ready to weigh out their options. But this collaboration shows a promising future for cord-cutters, boasting additional options for free access to movies and TV shows, both OTT and OTA. As humanity boosts itself into the future of entertainment, the landscape keeps evolving, and such partnerships keep everything at bay, for the audience to access a wider range of content.
The countdown for the New Year begins in a few days, and the excitement for the launch of The365 and Outlaw is pushing for engaging and immersive TV programming. What are your thoughts on this news? Let us know by contacting us.
