Fans will be excited to know that Stranger Things will be back for the 5th season (yay!), but sadly, it will be the last season of the series.
Starting from the beginning, when the announcement was made about the upcoming season of Stranger Things in February 2022, we were not aware that this nearing season could be the last.
While season 4 was the best Stranger Things had, the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, shared in an open letter that it was “the beginning of the end.” As interesting as the 4th season was, the audience was expecting more of it, so the Duffer Brothers hinted that the show might be ending, but it doesn’t end the Stranger Things Universe.
Since Stranger Things debuted on Netflix in 2016, The Duffer Brothers have created and overseen the series. There is now only one season left to focus on for our favorite bunch of Hawkins kids after a two-volume Season 4 was concluded.
What is it about?
However, the important details about Season 5 were kept under wraps. Fans are eager to see how the plot will unfold in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, and how the kids plan to defeat Vecna once and for all.
The Duffer Brothers have also revealed in multiple interviews that the main focus of season 5 will be to demystify the mythology of Upside Down and finally address concerns that have persisted since Season 1.
Though the majority of season 5 is blurry and how it will proceed, the Duffer Brothers have said that the ending is pretty concrete and that they can make the end that “feels right for this story.”
Who is in it?
As for the main cast members, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas, and others were anticipated to return. In addition, it was hoped that the series would feature new characters, strengthening the ensemble cast.
When will it be?
Fans can expect the final product to be aired in late 2023-2024, as the Duffer Brothers have said that “the gap should be quite a bit shorter this time,” meaning we will see season 5 before 2025.
It is worth mentioning that Stranger Things 5 began filming in June, but because of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike in Hollywood, production has been halted.
How Long will it be?
It is not confirmed how many episodes the season will have, but it is expected to be shorter because “Characters are already going to be in action,” according to Matt.
Finale Frenzy
Though the audience may be kept under dim light about noteworthy details about season 5 of Stranger Things, the crew of Stranger Things is making it a tad easier by regularly posting about behind-the-scenes of the show.
While it may be on and off, the little postings on Stranger Things Twitter (now X) are like crumbs to an empty stomach. Let’s not rush to conclusions about season 5 amidst the ongoing strike. We can only hope it satisfies the audience and fits well with the plot.
